Information used by Sports Oracle

Sports Oracle provides Google-backed accounts for followed teams, My Sports and Pick'em. The site does not currently offer purchases.

When you follow teams, leagues, competitions, Formula 1 drivers or constructors, and writers, the site stores essential, HTTP-only cookies so it can remember those choices. These cookies are not used to build an advertising profile.

If you join the Sports Oracle Signal, we process your email address, consent status, signup source and timestamps needed to confirm, deliver and administer the subscription. An address remains pending until its confirmation link is used.

Like most hosted websites, our infrastructure may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps and security or diagnostic events. This information is used for operation, reliability, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.

Sports Oracle accounts and Pick'em

Sports Oracle uses Google-backed accounts for cross-device followed teams and contest entries. It requests only basic profile access and stores the stable Google account identifier, the public display name you explicitly enter, followed-team identifiers, picks, tiebreaker predictions, account status and operational timestamps needed to keep one entry connected to the correct player. Sports Oracle does not store your Google profile name, email address, password, or Google access and refresh tokens. You can use a nickname and change it later from your account.

Signed-out Pick'em selections are an in-memory preview only and are not stored in browser storage. Pick'em entries require a confirmed player profile only when saving; authenticated changes are stored with your account and follow you across devices.

If you separately enter an address for Pick'em reminders, Sports Oracle stores the normalized address, your deadline/result choices, consent timestamps and delivery-suppression state independently from Google identity, the Sports Oracle Signal and team alerts. The address remains inactive until you use its time-limited confirmation link. Deadline messages apply only to a server-backed draft you started; result messages apply only to a persisted ranked result. Each message has a Pick'em-only unsubscribe link.

You can delete your account from the account page. Deletion removes its Google connection, public name, followed-team preferences and Pick'em reminder address, disables access, and keeps any historical contest entry under an anonymous deleted-player record so completed standings remain internally consistent.

Email delivery and measurement

Confirmed subscribers receive the weekly Sports Oracle Signal and occasional transactional messages needed to administer it, such as confirmation and welcome messages. Every campaign includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribed, bounced and complaint-associated addresses are suppressed from future campaigns.

Team alerts and Pick'em reminders use separate consent records and do not create a Signal subscription. A hard bounce or complaint disables the matching Pick'em reminder destination and suppresses its pending mail.

Campaign messages may contain a small image and protected redirect links that record whether a delivery was opened or a Sports Oracle link was selected. We use these aggregate delivery events to understand reliability and editorial usefulness. Email providers may also return delivery, bounce or complaint events. You can stop future email at any time through the link in a message.

Website analytics and ad attribution

If you accept optional cookies, Sports Oracle uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits to public, indexable pages, selections of team, league, match and story links, and calendar-download clicks. The data can include the public content type and slug or event identifier, page path and title, a sanitized referring address, approved campaign parameters, browser and device characteristics, and approximate geography. Sports Oracle does not send newsletter addresses, account identifiers, Pick'em selections, confirmation tokens, calendar query details other than the public event identifier, or other private-route information to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is disabled until you choose Accept in the optional-cookies notice. Advertising storage, advertising user data, advertising personalization, and Google Signals remain disabled. Google Analytics may then set first-party identifiers such as _ga to distinguish consented browsers. Google explains its processing on its partner-sites information page.

If you accept optional cookies, Sports Oracle also uses the Reddit Pixel on public, indexable pages to identify visits attributed to Reddit ads. When a player confirms a public display name for the first time, the site sends Reddit the standard SignUp event so a Pick'em registration can be attributed to a campaign. Sports Oracle does not attach the player's name, email address, account identifier, picks, password, or authentication tokens to that event. Reddit's automatic email and phone-number matching are disabled.

The Reddit Pixel is not loaded before consent. If allowed, Reddit may receive technical browser information, the visited page and referring address, and Reddit ad interaction identifiers, and may set identifiers used for attribution. Reddit describes the pixel and available opt-out controls in its Reddit Pixel information.

Advertising

Sports Oracle may advertise its own site through services such as Reddit. The application does not display third-party ad-network placements. Consented Reddit measurement is used to attribute campaign visits and Pick'em registrations, not to transmit the private information listed above.

Consent choices

The optional-cookies notice lets you accept or decline Google Analytics and Reddit ad attribution before either external tag is loaded. You can revisit that choice through Privacy choices in the site footer. Declining optional cookies does not affect site access or Pick'em eligibility. Your browser can also block or delete browser storage, although doing so may cause the notice to appear again or prevent followed-team and writer preferences from working.

External services and links

The site may display or link to information from sports-data providers, news publishers, Reddit, YouTube, official teams, leagues and other external services. Loading an embed or following an outside link can allow that provider to receive technical information and apply its own privacy policy. Sports Oracle does not control third-party websites.

Facebook, Instagram and Threads engagement

Sports Oracle uses Meta's platform APIs to publish its own material, receive notifications about replies, comments and mentions involving its accounts, respond from those accounts, search public Threads discussions by a narrow topic, and review aggregate account and post performance. Meta may provide the public account identifier or username, public comment or reply text, related post identifiers, timestamps and interaction or insight totals needed for those operations. Sports Oracle does not use this access to send cold direct messages, build advertising profiles or sell social-platform information.

Signed webhook deliveries use a 14-day retention cutoff in a restricted, deduplicated operational inbox. Automated cleanup runs at least every six hours while the service is running, so final deletion can occur during the first cleanup cycle after that cutoff. Successful Sports Oracle replies and aggregate insight snapshots may be retained longer when needed to prevent duplicate responses, enforce daily limits, evaluate campaign performance, investigate abuse or document a correction. Access tokens and app secrets are kept in protected configuration rather than the webhook inbox or public site.

To request deletion of information received from a Meta platform, use the method on the Contact page and identify the platform, public username, relevant post or reply URL, and the requested action. Do not send passwords, access tokens or government identifiers. Sports Oracle will verify and remove records it controls when applicable; deleting content or account data held by Facebook, Instagram or Threads must be requested through that platform.

Data retention and sharing

Operational and consent records are retained only as reasonably needed for delivery, suppression, site reliability, security and legal obligations. Mailing records may be handled by service providers that host the site or deliver email. Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business reorganization. Sports Oracle does not sell information that visitors submit directly to us.

Children

Sports Oracle is a general-audience sports publication and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children under 13 to provide personal information.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection relating to personal information. We may need enough information to verify and locate a request. Use the method on our Contact page and do not send sensitive identifiers publicly.

Policy changes

We may update this policy as the site or applicable requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
